This guide will answer many common questions about the myQ Video Keypad. 


What does the myQ Video Keypad do?

The myQ Video Keypad lets you see and control who opens your garage door. You can:
  • Assign unique PINs for family, guests, or service providers
  • Live stream HD video
  • Receive real-time notifications
  • View access history 

Does the myQ Video Keypad require a Wi-Fi connection?

Yes. A Wi-Fi connection is required for initial setup and ongoing use of video and app features. 

What happens if I lose Wi-Fi connection?

If your myQ Video Keypad is already set up and paired directly to a Chamberlain garage door opener, you will still be able to activate your garage door with the use of a previously created 4–8-digit PIN. However, you will be unable to stream/record video, view battery life, or make any changes to device settings until the Wi-Fi connection is restored.


How can I improve my Wi-Fi connection to the myQ Video Keypad?

  • The myQ Video Keypad must be within 50 feet of your Wi-Fi router.
  • If the Wi-Fi signal near the Video Keypad is weak, try moving your router closer to your garage to minimize interference from walls and other objects.
  • If bringing your router closer does not improve the signal, check if it is connected to a dedicated 5GHz home network. You may experience an improvement by switching to a 2.4GHz connection instead. 

What Wi-Fi networks are compatible?

The keypad supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks.

How long does it take to charge the battery for the myQ Video Keypad?

Charging takes 8–10 hours.

How can I extend battery life?


Is the battery covered under warranty?

Yes. The battery is covered under a 1-year warranty. A new battery can be purchased for $34.99.


Can the myQ Video Keypad be connected to an electrical outlet instead of using the battery?

Yes, the Video Keypad can be connected directly to an electrical outlet with the Hardwire Kit. Part number MYQ-KH1VXXW.  


How do I add or manage PINs for additional myQ Video Keypads?

Can I set custom Guest PINs?

Your Video Keypad allows homeowners to create Quick Pass PINs for guests. 

  • Access your Video Keypad settings page.
  • Tap the PINs tab.
  • Choose New Quick Pass.
  • Select your preferred access period:
    • Temporary: Unlimited access between a Start and End time/date.
    • Recurring: Ongoing access, restricted to selected days and timeframes.
  • Enter the name of the guest.
  • Enter the PIN code you would like to assign.
  • Share the Quick Pass PIN with your guest. 

Can I talk to guests via the myQ Video Keypad?

Yes, the myQ Video Keypad offers 2-way audio via the in-app live stream and call feature functions.


Will my garage door opener work with the myQ Video Keypad?

The myQ Video Keypad is compatible with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, Raynor, and AccessMaster garage door openers manufactured after 1993.


Can I open or close my garage door using the app?

Remote operation of the door is only available if you have a myQ Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener or Smart Garage Control Hub connected to the myQ app. The Video Keypad does not enable remote operation via the app only local access using PINs on the keypad.


Does it support in-garage delivery from Amazon or Walmart?

In-garage delivery from our retail partners (Amazon Key and Walmart+ InHome) is only available if your keypad is paired to either a myQ-connected garage door opener or Smart Garage Control Hub. If connected to a supported opener or hub, the myQ Video Keypad can enhance your in-garage delivery experience by capturing who comes in and out of your garage.


Can I control multiple garage door openers?

No, the myQ Video Keypad will control a single residential garage door opener.

Is it suitable for outdoor environments?

The myQ Video Keypad is tested to operate at -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C) and is water resistant with an IP55 rating.


What will the myQ Video Keypad record?

The myQ Video Keypad will record motion event activity in the proximity of your garage door once the camera is triggered by either a person or object within view.


Am I able to store recorded event footage for later viewing?

Your purchase of the myQ Video Keypad comes with a free 30-day trial of our myQ Video Storage Plan, which includes access to the last 7-days of your motion event recordings. If you choose to continue with a subscription after your trial, you will maintain access to video recording history and other premium features.


Can I change my motion detection settings within the myQ app?

There are 5 motion sensitivity settings available within the myQ app for your Video Keypad (Lowest, Low, Medium, High, and Highest). Lower settings will reduce motion detection and enable your device to optimize battery performance. To change your motion settings, you can use the following steps:

  1. Access your Video Keypad settings page
  2. Tap the Motion Detection tab
  3. Toggle the Motion Sensitivity menu to select your preferred settings
