Unable to Pair Garage Door Opener to myQ Device

Below are potential reasons why you might not be able to pair your garage door opener to a myQ Garage, myQ Smart Garage Hub, or Smart Garage Control:

 

  • The garage door opener is not compatible with the Smart Garage Hub, myQ Garage, or Smart Garage Control.

  • The door sensor is not installed properly.

    • The door sensor must be installed on the left or right side of the top panel on the garage door with the word TOP facing up.

  • The brand of the garage door opener or learn button color is not correct when going through the steps in the app to pair.
    • For Chamberlain, LiftMaster and Craftsman openers:
      Color of Learn ButtonSuggestion
      BROWNGarage door openers that have a PURPLE learn button  can sometimes appear BROWN. If your learn button looks BROWN, choose the PURPLE button  option when going through the in-app setup.
      RED/ORANGEGarage door openers that have a RED/ORANGE learn button  may be programmed by choosing the GREEN button  option when going through the in-app setup. If you are having trouble pairing your garage door opener with a RED/ORANGE learn button , choose the GREEN button  option when going through the in-app setup.  
  • In some instances, interference may occur when the hub has been installed too close to the motor unit. Unplug the hub and move it at least 4-6 feet away from the motor-head. 
  • If the door doesn't move while pairing, the opener may have not been in program mode. Depending on the brand of garage door opener you are pairing, there may be more specific instructions to put the opener into program mode.
