How to Setup an Internet Gateway in the myQ App

Follow these steps to set up an Internet Gateway and add myQ devices to your account.

How to Set Up the Internet Gateway

  1. Plug the gateway into the router. Wait until you have a solid green LED indicator light appear before you begin setup. 
  2. Log into the myQ app.
  3. Access settings:
    • If your app has a Gear Icon in the top right corner, tap the Gear Icon.
    • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
  4. Tap Devices or Device Management.
  5. Tap Add a new device or tap the + sign.
  6. Tap Accessory on the Device Setup screen. If you don't see this screen, tap the + on the bottom right then tap Device.
  7. For iOS users, check the box for What You Need
  8. Enter the 10-digit myQ serial number located on the bottom of the Internet Gateway and tap Submit (Android) or Next (Apple).
  9. Name the gateway/hub and tap Save.

Add a Device

Choose the type of device you want to add and follow the corresponding steps:

    • Garage Door Opener
      1. Locate the learn button on the garage door opener or the learn button on the door control.
      2. Press and release the learn button on the opener or, if pressing the learn button on the door control, press it twice.
      3. Name the garage door and tap Next.
    • Remote Light/Light Control
      1. Locate the learn button on the side of the remote light.
      2. Press and release the learn button.
      3. Name the light and tap Next.
    • Gate Operator
      1. Locate the Reset Switch or Button.
      2. Start with the gate closed and then open it.
      3. Press the learn button twice or toggle the reset button three times (This must be done within 30 seconds of the gate opening). The gate may sound an alert tone.
      4. Name the gate operator and tap Next.
    • Commercial Door Operator
      1. Locate the radio button on the logic board of the commercial door operator.
      2. Press and release the radio button. The radio LED will light.
      3. Name the door operator and tap Next.

Adding More Devices

  1. Access settings:
    • If your app has a Gear Icon in the top right corner, tap the Gear Icon.
    • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
  2. Tap Devices or Device Management.
  3. Under HUBS, select the gateway/hub to add the device.
  4. Tap Add New
  5. Follow the steps above to add the device.
