How to determine which routers and modems are incompatible with the Internet Gateway

The Internet Gateway devices are compatible with most home routers and business networks. The gateway device connects to the router or modem via an Ethernet cable connection. The router should be set to use DHCP to provide the gateway with an IP address.

The following routers/modems have known issues with the Internet Gateway:

Linksys/Cisco
  • Model - WRT610N version 1 - Incompatible
  • Model- WRT610N version 2 - Compatible
Belkin
  • Model - F5D8236-4 (Only works on LAN ports 1 and 3)
Netgear
  • Model - CGD24G Cable Modem
Westell Modems
  • Model - A90-7500 DSL Modem
TrendNet
  • 5-port-10/100 Mbps Switch TE100-S5
Verizon
  • Actiontec M1424-WRREV (Rev E) Modem/Router
Ubee
  • Model - DDW3610
Huawei Modem
  • Model - Echolife HG520C
D-Link
  • Model - DIR-665
SMC Networks
  • Model - SMC8014WN
Motorola
  • Model NVG589
T-Mobile
  • Arcadyan KVD21 5G Gateway
Linksys
  • SE1500 Ethernet network switch
AT&T
  • BGW 320-500
Starlink
  • All Models
Eero
  • All Models if WPA3 is enabled

The above routers/modems use non-standard internal port wiring that is incompatible with the Internet Gateway device. A hub or switch may resolve this situation but is not a verified fix.

If a home router is not available but the customer has a wireless network, a wireless Ethernet adapter will work.

Note: Netgear Wireless Ethernet Adapter is suggested (available on Amazon).

If you are attempting to use the Internet Gateway device at a hotel or similar shared internet location, true open internet access may not be available. Contact the appropriate IT department for assistance.
