Router Compatibility with myQ Wi-Fi Devices

When using myQ Wi-Fi products, certain routers may present compatibility issues that can hinder device connectivity. The following list details specific routers that have been tested with myQ Wi-Fi products, the issues encountered, and recommended resolutions to ensure a smooth connection experience.

Some Wi-Fi routers may cause connection issues when setting up or using myQ Wi-Fi devices. This article provides a list of routers tested with myQ devices, known compatibility issues, and recommended settings to help you connect successfully.

General Wi-Fi Requirements for myQ Devices

To connect successfully, ensure your network meets the following requirements:

  • Broadcasts a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (myQ devices are not compatible with 5GHz-only routers)
  • Uses WPA2 or WPA3 security
  • Maintains a strong, stable Wi-Fi signal near the device
  • Router firmware is updated to the latest version

Note: Firmware updates are managed through your router’s manufacturer app or your internet service provider—not the myQ app.

Finding Your Router Brand and Model

  • On a label on the back or bottom of the router
  • In your router’s admin settings (accessed by typing the router’s IP address in a web browser)
  • In your Wi-Fi network name (SSID)

KVD21 5G LTE Gateway1.00.18If the router is on the Firmware Version Tested (1.00.18), myQ Devices will not successfully connect to this router

The latest Firmware (1.00.20) update will allow the router to broadcast BOTH a 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi network. This will allow customers to connect 2.4GHz compatible devices to Wi-Fi without the need to piggyback.
If you are unable to update the router’s firmware, you can connect a compatible router to one of the LAN ports on the back of the KVD21. This process, known as “piggybacking,” will allow your myQ devices to connect successfully.
