myQ Video Doorbell | How to Set Up

The myQ Video Doorbell lets you see and talk to visitors from your smartphone, whether you're home or away. This guide walks you through connecting the doorbell to your Wi-Fi and installing it using either a battery-powered or wired setup.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have these ready before you start:

  • A smartphone or tablet
  • A strong 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz home Wi-Fi signal at the mounting location
  • Your Wi-Fi network name and password
  • Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device
  • Fully charged myQ Video Doorbell

Check LED Status

The light should be blinking blue. If it isn't: 

  1. Press and hold the reset button (back of the device) until the LED turns solid white.
  2. Release the button. When the LED blinks blue, setup can begin.

 


Set Up the Doorbell in the myQ App

  1. Open the myQ app.
  2. Access device setup:
    • If your app has a Gear Icon in the top right corner, tap the Gear Icon.
    • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
  3. Tap Devices.
  4. Tap Add a new device or the + icon. 
  5. Tap myQ Video Doorbell.
    • You can also find it under Accessory or Camera

Start Setup

  1. Make sure your doorbell is fully charged, then tap It's Charged.
  2. Tap Get Started
  3. If prompted, enable Bluetooth. 
  4. Press and hold the reset button until the LED is solid blue, then release. The LED will blink blue when it’s ready for pairing.
  5. Tap Continue.

Connect to Wi-Fi

  1. Tap your doorbell on the We're Finding Your Doorbell screen. 
  2. Tap Pair to connect via Bluetooth.
  3. Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list. 
  4. Enter your password and tap Next.
  5. Name Your Doorbell
    • Give it a unique name so you can easily identify it in the app.
    • Tap Continue. 

Multiple Cameras

The myQ app supports more than one camera. Repeat the setup process for each one. Give each camera a unique name so you can easily tell them apart in the app.

Select your setup method:

Battery Only (Wireless) Installation:

Tools You'll Need:

      • Charged doorbell
      • Drill with 3/16” drill bit
      • Phillips screwdriver
      • Pencil
    • Steps: 
      1. Tap Mount with Battery Only
      2. Tap Get Started
      3. Use the drill guide to mark where to drill for the doorbell mounting frame.
      4. Choose your frame type (angled or flat).
      5. Use live view to check the camera angle before drilling the holes.
      6. Drill holes into the doorframe or wall using the 3/16” drill bit.
      7. Attach the frame using the provided screws.
      8. Snap the doorbell into the frame.
      9. Secure it with the provided Phillips screw.

Hardwired Installation:

Tools You'll Need:

      • Charged doorbell
      • Drill with 3/16” drill bit
      • Phillips screwdriver
      • Pencil
      • Tape (optional)
      • Rubber mallet
    • Steps: 
      1. Tap Hardwire to Existing Electrical
      2. Tap Get Started
      3. Find the breaker in your home for your existing doorbell and turn it off prior to touching the existing wires.
      4. Remove the old doorbell and disconnect the wires from the terminals.
        • Use tape over the end of the wires to keep them from touching, if needed
      5. Choose your frame type and check camera angle using live view before drilling the holes.
      6. Drill holes into the doorframe or wall using the 3/16” drill bit.
      7. Attach the frame with the provided screws
      8. Connect existing wires to the new doorbell.
        • Remove any tape used earlier.
      9. Snap the doorbell into the frame.
      10. Secure the doorbell into the frame with the provided Phillips screw.

Your myQ Video Doorbell is now ready to use!

Tip: Keep an eye on the LED status light throughout the setup.
If setup fails, use the last LED color you saw to troubleshoot.
