myQ Wireless Chime | Setup, Features, and Settings

Learn what the myQ Wireless Chime can do and how to set it up in the myQ app. This guide covers features, installation steps, and how to adjust chime settings like volume, sound, and quiet hours.


Features and Benefits

The myQ Wireless Chime works with the myQ Video Doorbell, Smart Locks with Doorbell functionality, and the myQ Video Keypad.

  • Quick response – The chime rings within 2 seconds of the doorbell button being pressed.
  • Custom sounds – Upload your own tones and assign different sounds for each device.
  • Multiple chimes – Add more than one chime to cover larger homes.
  • Volume control – Turn the sound up, down, or off.
  • Quiet Hours – Set times when the chime will not ring.
  • Status light – Turn the LED on or off, or adjust brightness.
  • Indoor use – Plugs into any 120V AC outlet.

 What You Need Before Setup

  • Smartphone or tablet with the myQ app
  • Home Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz required; not compatible with 5 GHz networks) with strong signal near the mounting location.
  • Wi-Fi name and password
  • Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device
  • Standard 120V AC outlet
  • Compatible myQ device (Video Doorbell, Video Keypad, or Smart Lock)
Note: The chime can be added to the app without a compatible device, but it won’t function until paired with one.

Set Up the myQ Wireless Chime

  1. Open the myQ app and log in.
  2. Go to Device Setup:
    • Tap the gear icon (top right) > Devices > Add a New Device (or the + sign in the top right).
    • Select Accessories > myQ Wireless Chime.
    • Or, add it through a compatible device: Device Management > Chime Settings > Connect Indoor Chime.
  3. Plug the chime into a standard 120V outlet. The LED will turn solid white, then blink blue. 
    • If it does not blink blue, press and hold the reset button until the LED turns solid red, then release. It will return to blinking blue
    • The chime must remain plugged in to work
  4. Tap Continue in the app. 
  5. Confirm Bluetooth is on, then select the chime. It will display as “MYQ-xxx” (last three digits match the serial number on the back of the chime).
  6. Tap Pair when prompted.
  7. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
    • Note: If you network is not listed, tap "I don't see my network". Continue to tap "Try Again" to load available networks.
  8. Name your chime.
  9. Customize settings (sound, volume, quiet hours) or tap Finish.
  10. Test the chime by pressing the doorbell button or compatible device’s call button.

Chime Settings in the myQ App

After setup, the chime will appear in the Device Management screen under Chimes listed by the name you assigned during setup. From here, you can view and adjust:

  • Chime sounds – Pick from defaults or upload custom sounds. If multiple chimes are installed, they can each be assigned a different sound. Note: Custom chime sounds will be available in a future app update. 
  • Volume – Increase, decrease, or mute.
  • Quiet Hours – Set times or days when the chime won’t ring.
  • Snooze Chime – Temporarily disable for 2 hours, 4 hours, or until 7 AM.
  • Status light – Toggle the LED on/off.
  • Network connection – Check Wi-Fi signal strength and get tips for improving it.
  • Device info – See firmware version and update if available. 
  • Remove device – Delete the chime from your account (requires a factory reset).
  • Serial number – This is the serial number that is listed on the back of the chime.

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • The LED color tells you the status during setup. If connection fails, restart from the last LED state. See the [LED Status Indicators] section in the FAQ. 
  • For weak Wi-Fi, move your router closer or use an extender.
  • If adding multiple chimes for different devices, use unique names so you know which device is ringing.
