myQ Cameras | Wi‑Fi Network Requirements and Recommended Router Settings
myQ cameras require a compatible Wi‑Fi network and router configuration to connect and communicate with the myQ servers. Use the settings below when setting up a new camera or troubleshooting connection issues.
💡 Before changing any router settings, verify that your camera has a strong Wi‑Fi signal and your router firmware is up to date.

Recommended Router Settings
Note: If attempting to change any router settings yourself, be sure to back up your router's current settings before any changes are made and have the router's manual available.

Network Visibility (SSID Broadcast)
Your Wi‑Fi network should be visible during setup. Hidden networks may prevent a camera from connecting successfully.
What This Means
A visible network appears in the list of available Wi‑Fi networks on your phone or tablet.
A hidden network does not appear in the list and may cause setup issues.
How to Check
- Open the Wi‑Fi settings on your phone.
- Verify your network name appears in the list of available networks.
How to Enable Network Visibility
Router menus vary by manufacturer.
- Open your router app or router settings page.
- Locate one of the following settings:
- SSID Broadcast
- Network Visibility
- Broadcast Network Name
- Hide Network
- Verify the network is set to Visible.
- Save your changes if necessary.
DHCP Must Be Enabled
DHCP allows your router to automatically assign a network address to your myQ camera.
What This Means
When DHCP is enabled, the router automatically manages network addresses for connected devices.
If DHCP is disabled, the camera may connect to Wi‑Fi but fail to communicate properly with your network.
How to Check

- Verify DHCP is enabled.
Most home routers have DHCP enabled by default.
Wi‑Fi Frequency Requirements
myQ cameras support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi networks.

Unlike many myQ garage devices that require 2.4 GHz, myQ cameras can connect to either:
- 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi
- 5 GHz Wi‑Fi
Use whichever provides the strongest and most reliable signal at the camera location.
Wireless Mode Requirements
myQ cameras require support for 802.11 b/g/n wireless standards.

myQ cameras require specific ports to communicate with myQ cloud services.

Verify the following inbound and outbound TCP/UDP ports are not being blocked:
- 9122

What Happens If Ports Are Blocked?
The camera may:
- Fail to connect during setup
- Appear offline in the myQ app
- Connect intermittently
- Fail to upload video or communicate with myQ services
What to Do
- Review firewall settings on your router.
- Verify the required ports are not blocked.
- Contact your ISP if assistance is needed.
MAC Address Filtering
MAC Address Filtering can prevent a myQ camera from accessing your Wi‑Fi network.
What This Means
Some routers allow only approved devices to join the network.
If MAC filtering is enabled, the camera's MAC address must be added to the approved devices list.

Unsupported Router Firmware
User-modified routers running open-source firmware have not been tested with myQ cameras.
