Light Bulbs That Can Be Used in Garage Door Openers

Using the correct light bulbs in your Chamberlain garage door opener can ensure proper functionality and avoid issues like radio interference with remote controls. It's important to follow size and wattage guidelines to keep your Garage Door Opener working smoothly.

Which Light Bulbs can be used in my Garage Door Opener?

Chamberlain-manufactured garage door openers are designed and tested to be used with size A19 incandescent light bulbs and similar-sized compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. The bulb should not exceed 2.375" in diameter and 4.43" in length. Refer to your product manual to ensure your light bulbs do not exceed your unit's recommended size and wattage.

If you are experiencing any of the following issues, your light bulb may not be compatible.

• Remote control only works when it is close to the garage door opener
• The remote control or keypad will close the garage door but won’t open it
• Not able to program a new remote control or keypad

If you are experiencing any of the above issues after installing a non-chamberlain LED bulb, replace the light bulb with a CFL bulb or use the tested CHLED1 bulb instead.

Do Not Use the Following Light Bulbs:

• Bulbs exceed the recommended wattage for your opener. Refer to your product manual for the correct wattage.
• Halogen light bulbs.
• Short-neck or specialty light bulbs.

Using light bulbs other than what is recommended may damage the garage door opener. Make sure the bulb does not touch the light lens cover, and avoid low-quality LED bulbs, which can interfere with the operation of remote controls.
