Garage Door Opener Light Will Not Turn On

Typically, the garage door opener lights don't turn on because a light bulb needs to be replaced.

There are a few things you can check:

  • Light bulb
  • Light socket or logic board

Light Bulb

Replace the light bulb with a new light bulb.

Light Socket or Logic Board

If the light is still not coming on, it could be the light socket or the logic board. To determine which one it is, follow the steps below.

  1. Unplug the garage door opener, then immediately plug the opener back into the electrical outlet. Listen for the light relay on the logic board to click.
  2. If you hear a click, replace the light socket
  3. If you do not hear a click, replace the logic board.

NOTE: This does not apply to wall mounted garage door openers that use a work light that is separate from the garage door opener.
