Unable to Connect the Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener to Wi-Fi Network and LED Light is Solid Blue

When connecting your myQ Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener to your home network, the LED light changes color to indicate connection status. A solid green LED confirms the opener is successfully connected.

A solid blue LED means your opener is connected to your mobile device but has not yet connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

Before You Begin:

 Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

  1. Adjust Mobile Device Settings
    • Some phone settings can interrupt setup by switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data or hiding your device’s network address. Turning them off helps your phone stay connected to your home network so the opener can complete setup.
For Apple devices

Turn off Wi-Fi Assist and Private Relay in your phone settings. Both can be turned back on after connection.

      • To Turn off Wi-Fi Assist:
        1. Open your phone Settings.
        2. Tap Cellular.
        3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and disable Wi-Fi Assist.
      • Once this setting is disabled, continue to the next step.
For Android devices

Turn off Switch to Mobile Data/Smart Network Switch. This can be turned back on after connection.

      • To Turn off Smart Network Switch/Switch to Mobile Data:
        1. Open your phone Settings (gear icon).
        2. Tap Connections.
        3. Tap Wi-Fi.
          • Make sure Wi-Fi is ON so you can see networks.
        4. Tap the 3-dot menu (⋮) in the upper-right corner.
        5. Tap Intelligent Wi-Fi.
          • In some regions it may just say Advanced instead.
        6. Find Switch to mobile data (sometimes worded as Switch to mobile networks or Auto switch to mobile data).
        7. Toggle it OFF.
      • Once this setting is disabled, continue to the next step.
  1. Check the Wi-Fi Signal Strength at the Opener
    • Make sure your mobile device is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Hold the mobile device in the place where the myQ Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener is installed and check your Wi-Fi strength.
    • If the Wi-Fi signal is weak, see: Improve myQ Device Wi-Fi Signal Strength.
    • If the Wi-Fi signal is strong, continue to step 3.
  2. Restart the Garage Door Opener
    • If your opener has a battery backup:
      • Disconnect the AC power cord from the outlet first.
      • Disconnect the backup battery.
      • Reconnect the backup battery first
      • Plug the AC power cord back into the outlet.
    • If your opener does not have a battery backup:
      • Simply unplug the opener for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
  3. Reattempt Setup in the myQ App
    • Ensure your phone is near the garage door opener.
    • Open the myQ app and begin the setup process again.
    • Monitor the LED during setup. A solid green LED indicates a successful connection.
    • See Connect myQ Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener to Wi-Fi for more help.

Note: During the setup process, monitor the status of the LED on your myQ Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener for any changes. If you are still unable to connect, use the last LED status observed during the in-app setup to troubleshoot further. See Unable to Connect Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener to Wi-Fi Overview.
