Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener | Setup & Connect to Wi-Fi

Connecting your garage door opener to Wi‑Fi lets you control and monitor your garage door from anywhere using the myQ app. This guide walks you through  compatibility and complete setup in the app.

Before You Begin

✅Check Opener Compatibility

Take a quick look at the logo on your garage door opener:

  • myQ logo only (no Wi‑Fi symbol): Not Wi‑Fi capable
  • Powered by myQ logo or Wi‑Fi symbol: Wi‑Fi capable

If yours is not Wi-Fi enabled, you can still connect it using a myQ Smart Garage Hub. See: What Is Needed to Make My Garage Door Opener myQ Compatible?

✅What You'll Need

💡Changing Your Wi-Fi Settings?

If you recently replaced your router or changed your Wi-Fi name or password, the opener will not reconnect automatically. This is a common situation and just requires a quick reconnect.

See: How to Reconnect to myQ after Changing your Router or Settings

✅Setup Tips:

  • Stay connected to your home Wi-Fi. Turning off mobile data can help avoid interruptions during setup
  • Stand close to your garage door opener (within 3 feet)

Troubleshooting

If setup does not complete on the first try, that’s normal. A quick retry often resolves it.

Try these first:

  • Stay within a few feet of the opener
  • Double-check your Wi-Fi password
  • Keep your phone connected to Wi-Fi during setup

If the opener does not appear in the app, it may already be linked to another myQ account. In that case, see: How to Factory Reset a myQ Device
