How To Program Or Change The PIN For a 940EV/940EVMC or 877MAX/877MAXMC Keypad

Here are the basic steps for programming the 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) for models 940EV/940EVMC and 877MAX/877MAXMC.

Set Keyless PIN For 940EV/877MAX Models: Program a Keypad PIN Using Your Garage Door Opener:

  1. Be sure to clear the garage door area of any obstructions.
  2. Locate the LEARN button on the garage door opener. See How To Find The LEARN Button.
  3. Press and hold the " * " and " # " buttons on the keypad until the lights on the keypad stop blinking.
  4. Enter a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice, then press the " # " button.
  5. Press and release the ENTER button on the keypad the number of times that corresponds with your garage door opener type:

  6. Press and release the " 0 " button.
  7. Press and release the LEARN button on the garage door opener. The LEARN LED will light. 
  8. Within 30 seconds, enter your 4-digit PIN, then press and release the ENTER button until the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard. The PIN programming is complete.
  9. To test, enter your PIN, then press the ENTER button. The garage door opener will activate.
 

Set Keyless PIN for 940EVMC/877MAXMC Models: Program a Keypad PIN Using Your Garage Door Opener:

  1. Be sure to clear the garage door area of any obstructions.
  2. Locate the LEARN button on the garage door opener. See How To Find The LEARN Button.
  3. Press and hold the " * " and " # " buttons on the keypad until the lights on the keypad stop blinking.
  4. Enter a 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice, then press the " # " button.
  5. Press and release the ENTER button on the keypad the number of times that corresponds with your garage door opener type:

  7. Press and release the LEARN button on the garage door opener. The LEARN LED will light. 
  8. Within 30 seconds, enter your 4-digit PIN, then press and release the ENTER button until the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard. The PIN programming is complete.
  9. To test, enter your PIN, then press the ENTER button. The garage door opener will activate.
 

Program a Temporary Keypad PIN Using Your Garage Door Opener

  1. Be sure to clear the garage door area of any obstructions.
  2. Enter any programmed PIN, then press and hold the " * " button until the garage door opener light bulb flashes 3 times.
  3. Enter the temporary 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice, then press "ENTER" button. The garage door opener will flash 4 times.
  4. Press the number of hours the temporary PIN will work (up to 255). Then press " * " button. The garage door opener light bulb will flash once.
  5. To test, enter your PIN, then press the ENTER button. The garage door opener will activate.

How to Change an Existing PIN Number

For garage door openers with a green Smart/Learn button or an external receiver, use "Set Keyless PIN" to change the existing PIN.
 

  1. Be sure to clear the garage door area of any obstructions.
  2. Enter the programmed PIN that you want to change.
  3. Press and hold the " # " button until the garage door opener light bulb flashes 2 times.
  4. Enter a new 4-digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice, then press "ENTER" button. The garage door opener will flash 1 time.
  5. To test, enter your PIN, then press the ENTER button. The garage door opener will activate.
