If your garage door opener keypad is not working, but the wall button operates the door without any issues, there could be several reasons for the malfunction. Your garage door opener has an integrated receiver logic board that wirelessly "communicates" to your keyless entry whereas your wall-mounted door control panel is hard-wired. The wireless keyless entry and wired door control operate independently, so it is not uncommon for one device to work while the other does not.
The most common reason why your garage door opener keypad is not working is a dead battery. Most keypads use a 9-volt battery, though some older models may use a 12-volt. If you haven’t already done so, replace the battery. See also: How do I change the battery in a wireless keypad?
If the battery has already been replaced the problem may be a failure with the keyless entry or the receiver logic board.
After replacing the battery, you may need to reprogram your keyless entry. See How to add, program or change a Keyless Entry PIN. If reprogramming does not help, clear the memory of the opener and try to reprogram it again. Keep in mind you will need to program any remotes that are currently programmed to your opener.
On a keyless entry, it is possible a button on the keypad is not working. Try to program a completely different PIN. If it works, one of the numbers in the old PIN may have stopped functioning. Either use a different PIN or replace the keyless entry.
A temporary PIN number will no longer open the door once it expires, however, it can still be used to close the door. To resolve this, clear the memory and program the keyless entry.
The surface the keyless entry is mounted to may be interfering with the signal. Remove the keyless entry from the mounting surface and test the keyless entry. If the keyless entry works, consider adding rubber grommets between the keypad and the mounting surface or mounting it on a small piece of wood to reduce interference.
