myQ Users | Invite, Accept, and Switch Between Accounts

Learn how to invite users to your myQ account, accept invitations, and switch between homes in the myQ app. This includes Co-Owners, Household Users, and Quick Pass guests.
You can invite up to 16 users total:
  • Up to 2 Co-Owners
  • Up to 13 Household Users
  • Multiple Quick Pass PINs for guests
Each user has their own access level and login. You control who can use your devices, when they can access them, and what features they can control.
To learn more about user types and permissions, see What is myQ Users?

Invite a New myQ User

Step 1: Open Users Menu

  1. Open the myQ app and tap the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Tap Users. You’ll see two options:
    • Add a User – for adding a Co-Owner or Household User.
    • New Quick Pass – for granting temporary access to guests without a myQ account.

Step 2: Select User Type and Devices

For Co-Owner / Household User:

  1. Tap Add a User, then select Co-Owner or Household User
  2. Select which devices the user can access.
  3. Choose the type of access (for Household Users only):
  4. Always for 24/7 access
  5. Temporary for specific start and end dates or times
  6. Recurring for repeated access on certain days or times
  7. Tap Next, enter the user’s name and email, and tap Create User.

For Quick Pass:

  1. Tap New Quick Pass and select which devices the guest can access.
  2. Select the access period:
    • Temporary for access within a set start and end date or time
    • Recurring for access on specific days or times each week
  3. Tap the arrow, enter the guest’s name, and the app will generate a PIN.

Step 3: Confirm and Send

  • Invitations expire after 7 days and must be accepted in the myQ app.
  • Household Users and Co-Owners must have or create a myQ account.
  • Quick Pass guests do not need a myQ account.

Tip: Quick Pass is ideal for visitors or service providers who don’t need full account access.

Things to Consider
  • If the person you are inviting already has a myQ account, send the invitation to the same email address they used to register.
  • Invitations expire if not accepted within seven (7) days.
  • If the invitation was not received, review Not Receiving a myQ Users Invitation.

    Additional Help

    • Removing a Previous Owner: If you need to remove a previous owner or if you see the error “myQ device is stuck on another user's account,” see How to Factory Reset a myQ Device. This will ensure that the previous owner's access is completely removed.
    • Switching Primary Ownership: To transfer ownership of your device, you will need to delete the device from your account. The new owner will then need to add the device to their own account.
