myQ Home Control App Not Working: How to Resolve Connection Issues

Your smartphone can connect to the Internet in a variety of ways based on your service and network configuration at your current location. If you encounter a problem with the myQ Home Control app connecting to the Internet, follow the steps below.

Note: The app may be temporarily unresponsive when switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Steps to Resolving Issues With the myQ App Connecting to the Internet

    1. Verify that the phone and the phone's operating system are compatible with the myQ app. For help, see Smartphones and Operating System Versions That Are Compatible with the myQ App
    2. Check to make sure that the smartphone is connecting to the Internet.
      • If it is not connecting, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your mobile device or your cellphone provider.
    3. Verify you are using the latest version of the myQ app.
      • Ensure you are using the correct username and password or you will not be able to log into the app.
      • Check your phone settings to make sure that the app is connecting:
        • Go to Settings
        • Tap Applications
        • Tap Manage applications
        • Choose the myQ app, and view permissions. This will indicate if the app has a connection to the internet.
      • Uninstall and reinstall the app.
        • After reinstalling the app, look for the app with the myQ logo. Use the links below to verify the correct app is installed.
        • Android devices: Download the app from the Google Play Store.
        • Apple devices: Download the app from the App Store.

Connecting Your myQ Device to the Internet and the myQ Account

Note: myQ devices can only be added to one primary myQ account at a time. If you are the primary myQ account holder, see the bullets points below.

In order for other myQ accounts to access the device, that account needs to be invited as a myQ User by the primary myQ account to gain access. See Add Another User to Your myQ Account Using myQ Users for granting access to myQ devices to other myQ accounts.

      Other Network considerations:

      VPN:
      1.    Verify if the source of poor Wi-Fi speed is coming from using a VPN.
      2.    A VPN adds encryption to your Wi-Fi but in some cases can impact the speed of connection.
      3.    If a VPN is installed on your wireless router all connected devices may be affected.
      4.    Select a VPN that protects your Wi-Fi without affecting speed.
