myQ App Not Working | How to Fix Connection Issues

If your myQ app won’t connect to the internet or won’t load, use the steps below to get your app working again.

Before You Begin: Quick Fixes

Start with these fast steps to see if your myQ App works before diving into detailed troubleshooting.

  • Force close the myQ App and reopen it.
  • Switch your internet connection – switch Wi-Fi off and use mobile data or turn mobile data off and use Wi-Fi.
  • Restart your phone.

💡 If your app is working but your garage door opener or hub shows as offline see

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, continue with the detailed troubleshooting below.

Check Your Phone's Internet Connection

  1. Make sure your phone is connected to the internet using Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  2. Try opening a website in your browser to confirm connectivity.
  3. If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure the signal is strong and stable.
  4. If you’re using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily. VPNs can slow or block app connections.
  5. Try turning Wi-Fi off and using only mobile data to see if the app works, which helps determine if the issue is with your home Wi-Fi network.
    • ⚠️The app may pause briefly when your phone switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Verify App and Phone Compatibility

  1. Make sure your phone’s operating system is supported:
    • iOS: Version 14 or later
    • Android: Version 8.0 or later
  2. Check that you’re using the latest version of the myQ app:

For more details, see: Smartphones and Operating System Versions That Are Compatible with the myQ App

If your phone does not support the required operating system, the app may install but fail to connect properly.

Check App Permissions on Your Phone

  • iOS:
    • Go to Settings > myQ
    • Make sure Cellular Data and Background App Refresh are turned on.
  • Android:
    • Go to Settings > Apps > myQ > Permissions
    • Allow Network access and Storage permissions.
    • Under Battery or Battery Optimization, set myQ to Unrestricted so the phone does not block background data.

Restart the App and Your Phone

Fully close the myQ app by swiping it away from recent apps, then restart your phone. This clears temporary network and app processes that can prevent the app from connecting.

Reinstall the myQ App

  1. Uninstall the app completely.
  2. Reinstall from the official app store (see links above).
  3. Open the app and allow all permission promts.
  4. Log in again using your myQ account credentials.

Check Network Settings

VPN or Network Security Apps

Some phones or home networks use VPNs or security apps to protect internet traffic. These tools encrypt your connection but can sometimes block or slow app communication.

    • If you use a VPN app on your phone, turn it off temporarily and try the myQ app again.
    • If your home router includes built-in security, parental controls, or a VPN feature, it may affect all connected devices.
    • If the app connects after disabling these features, adjust the settings or contact the VPN or router provider for help.
