Is a subscription required after the 30-day free trial?

No, a subscription is not required for your camera to work after the 30-day free trial. You will still be able to stream live video through the myQ app and receive notifications when motion is detected for free. Unlock optional enhanced features with a Video Monitoring plan, such as smarter notifications driven by AI, including face detection, person detection, and more to help you stay connected to home from anywhere. Will I automatically be on a subscription when the free trial ends?

If you're on a multi-device plan, the camera will be added automatically.

What is the difference between the myQ Outdoor Battery Camera and the myQ Outdoor Wired Camera?

  • Battery Camera: Wireless, 2K resolution, motion-activated spotlight, built-in rechargeable battery, and operates wirelessly.
  • Wired Camera: Requires a USB cable for power and provides a1080p resolution.

How does the spotlight work?

The spotlight turns on with motion to deter nighttime intruders. It provides near-daytime visibility even in the darkest of conditions. The brightness can be adjusted, or it can be turned off completely in the myQ app to conserve battery.


How does Color Night Vision work?

Automatically shows full color video when lighting is above 0.5 lux (dawn/dusk) and switches to black and white in low light.


Can multiple users access the camera feed?

Yes. Co-owners can be added to your myQ account and will have access to the camera feed. 


What are the privacy features?

The Outdoor Battery Camera adheres to robust data privacy rules, including encryption of data transmission. Users can utilize the mute option available through the app for privacy.


Is the camera compatible with other smart home devices?

Yes, the Outdoor Battery Camera is compatible with myQ smart products and can be integrated with platforms such as IFTTT.


Do I need a bridge or control to use the camera?

No. The Outdoor Battery Camera connects directly to your home Wi-Fi network. It can then be accessed using the myQ App.


How will I know the battery is charged?

LED blinks orange while charging and turns solid green when full.


Does the camera have a removable battery?

No. It has a built-in rechargeable battery. Check battery percentage in the live stream. 

Recharging takes between 4-6 hours with the included USB-C cable.


What is the estimated battery life?

4–6 months under typical use. Actual performance may vary based on factors such as usage patterns, motion detection frequency, Wi-Fi signal strength, and environmental conditions like extreme temperatures. To help extend battery life, consider setting up detection zones, lowering motion sensitivity, and ensuring a strong Wi-Fi connection.


Why am I not receiving motion notifications?

Enable notifications for the device in the myQ app and your mobile settings. Features like Person, Vehicle, and Animal Detection are enabled with a Video Monitoring Plan.


How does motion detection work?

The camera utilizes a sensor for motion detection. Your camera needs to be mounted 7 to 10 ft above the ground angled downwards for the sensor to accurately detect motion. Users can fine-tune the motion sensitivity, lowering the motion sensitivity can extend battery life. Enable features such as video recording, person detection, face detection and more with a Video Monitoring Plan (sold separately).


Does the Outdoor Battery Camera record 24/7?

No. It records motion events, which you can view in the History tab of the myQ app with an active myQ subscription. Recordings start when motion is detected and stop once the motion ends.


Why can’t I see the live stream?

Cameras rely on a strong Wi-Fi connection. If the signal is weak or unstable, you might experience delays or interruptions in video and audio feeds. Check your Wi-Fi signal strength on the live view window or in device settings.


Why can’t I see recorded videos?

Event Recording must be on, and filters must be disabled. A free trial or active myQ Video Storage subscription is required.


Can I mount the camera head directly to metal?

No. Use the included base and mount plate. Camera should be 7–10 ft above ground and angled downward. Using the camera without the mount can cause issues capturing intended motion around your home. 


What do I do if I selected the incorrect device?

If the incorrect device is selected, the camera won’t be discovered. Restart the setup process by returning to the device management menu and select Outdoor Battery Camera. 


What temperatures can this camera operate at?

Normal: -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C). Cold weather reduces battery life temporarily. Install in shaded areas to avoid overheating.
