You can extend the battery life of a battery-powered myQ camera by adjusting its Camera Detection settings. Reducing unnecessary motion detection and recordings helps the battery last longer.

Open the Camera Detection settings from the myQ app to control what your camera detects and records.
Use the settings below to reduce activity you do not need your camera to monitor or record. You do not need to change every setting, adjust only the ones that fit how you use your camera.
Video Recording saves the recordings included in your plan. Turning it off stops the camera from saving any recordings, which reduces battery use the most.
Object Detection detects and alerts you to People, Packages, Animals, Vehicles, and Faces. Turn off the types you do not need to reduce how often the camera records.
Tap Object Detection to see each type:
At the bottom of the Object Detection screen, the All Motion toggle detects and records all activity, including general motion, instead of just the types you turned on above. Turn off All Motion so your camera records only the object types you selected, which reduces unnecessary recordings.
Detection Zones let you monitor only select areas of your camera's view, so it ignores motion outside those areas.
Tap Detection Zones, then tap Set up to choose the areas you want it to monitor. Exclude areas where motion does not matter to you, such as a sidewalk or street, to reduce how often the camera detects and records motion.

Motion Sensitivity controls how much movement it takes to trigger the camera. Lowering the sensitivity reduces the number of motion events in areas with frequent or unimportant movement.
Set the sensitivity based on how much activity you want the camera to detect.
Battery life depends on how often your camera detects and records activity. There is no single setting that works best for everyone. Adjust the Camera Detection settings above based on what you need your camera to monitor, then check back after a few days to see if the battery is lasting longer.
