myQ Cameras | Camera Detection Settings Overview
Camera Detection settings let you control what your myQ camera detects, records, and sends notifications about. Adjust these settings to monitor the activity that matters most to you.

How to Access Camera Detection Settings
Open Camera Detection in the myQ app to manage how your camera detects and records activity.
- Tap Menu.
- Tap Device Management.
- Select the camera you want to manage.
- Tap Camera Detection.
Video Recording
Video Recording controls whether your camera records detected motion events.
Turn Video Recording on to save video events. Turn it off if you do not want the camera to create motion recordings.
Object Detection
Object Detection controls which types of activity can trigger recordings and notifications. Turn on only the activity you want your camera to monitor.
Available detection types include:
- People – detects people
- Packages – detects packages
- Animals – detects animals
- Vehicles – detects vehicles
- Faces – tap Set up to enable Face Detection, which can provide more personalized notifications once configured
Turn off detection types that are not important to you to reduce unnecessary detection events.
At the bottom of the Object Detection screen, All Motion records all detected movement, including motion not identified as a person, package, animal, vehicle, or face. Turn on All Motion to capture all activity in the camera's view instead of only the object types you selected above.

Detection Zones
Detection Zones let you choose which areas of the camera's view are monitored.
Use Detection Zones to focus on important areas while ignoring activity in locations that do not matter, such as sidewalks, streets, or neighboring properties.

Motion Sensitivity
Motion Sensitivity controls how much movement is required to trigger the camera.
Increase sensitivity to detect smaller movements. Decrease sensitivity to reduce motion events in areas with frequent or unimportant activity.
Adjust the sensitivity level based on the amount of activity in the camera's view.
Adjust Camera Detection for Your Needs
Camera Detection settings work together to control what your camera monitors, records, and notifies you about. For example:
- Use Object Detection to monitor specific types of activity.
- Use Detection Zones to focus on specific areas.
- Adjust Motion Sensitivity to control how much movement triggers the camera.
- Turn off All Motion (inside Object Detection) if you only want recordings for selected object types.
- Turn off Video Recording if you do not want motion events recorded.
If you have a battery-powered myQ camera, reducing unnecessary detection and recording activity can help extend battery life.
