Unlock Entries Using myQ Mobile for LiftMaster Smart Readers

myQ mobile credentials work with the following devices:

  • LiftMaster Smart Reader models SRDRST (Stand-Alone Reader) and SRDRKP (Keypad Reader)

Turn on Bluetooth & Location Services

For the myQ Community app to work with myQ mobile credentials, both Bluetooth and Location Sharing needs to be enabled. If these services are not enabled, you will receive one of the following messages in the app.

How to use your mobile device with myQ mobile credential

There are three ways for your mobile device to unlock an entry with myQ mobile credential
  • Tap
    • Tap your phone (locked or unlocked) to a smart reader to unlock or
    • Place your phone close to an intercom to unlock

  • Touch
    • Touch the upper part of a smart reader with your hand to unlock
    • Make sure your phone has a good line of sight to the reader. The range will vary depending on obstructions

  • Alert
    • Get close to a smart reader or an intercom. A notification will be pushed to your phone
    • Unlock the door through the push notification

myQ mobile credential settings

Settings for mobile credentials can be adjusted in the myQ Community App. Go to Settings – Mobile Credentials. You can turn Tap, Touch, or Alert (admins may disable certain modes) on or off; and adjust their sensitivity levels (how easily your phone can detect a nearby smart reader or intercom).

Troubleshooting:
  1. What happens if the Internet goes down at the property? Will the system still work?
    1. Press to unlock relies on internet availability but if you have certain types of LiftMaster intercoms or smart readers, you can still unlock a door using Bluetooth technology when the internet goes down
  2. What happens if my phone is out of battery?
    1. Your phone will need to have battery life for any unlock to function
  3. Why does Tap not work?
    1. Check with your administrator whether Tap mode is turned on for your property
    2. Check whether you manually terminated the app
    3. Check if you’ve turned on Bluetooth and Location Services for the app (Location Services needs to be set to “Always On”)
  4. Why does Touch not work?
    1. Check with your administrator whether Touch mode is turned on for your property
    2. Check whether you manually terminated the app
    3. Check if you’ve turned on Bluetooth and Location Services for the app (Location Services needs to be set to “Always On”)
    4. Please make sure your phone has a good line of sight to the reader. The range will vary depending on obstructions
    5. Touch the upper part of the reader with your hand
  5. Why does Alert not work?
    1. Check with your admin whether Alert mode is turned on for your property
    2. Check whether you manually terminated the app
    3. Check if you’ve turned on Notifications, Bluetooth, and Location Services for the app (Location Services needs to be set to “Always On”)
  6. Why does the app need to know my location with iOS?
    1. myQ Community does not share or sell your data to third parties. To make sure your phone can unlock a door, we are using Location Services via iOS to wake up the myQ Community app when you are close to a door if iOS puts the app to sleep
