How to Program MAX (L979M, CH348) and Universal (L979U, CHU48) Keypads to Logic 5.0

Before You Begin

• Ensure the area around the door is clear. The door may move during programming and verification.
• Read all instructions carefully before starting.
• Keypads are preset to Security+ 3.0 out of the box. Because Logic 5.0 operators use Security+ and Security+ 2.0, you must put the keypad into Programming Mode to pair it.
• Programming allows the keypad to provide single-button control with a 4-digit PIN.

Step 1: Put the Keypad in Programming Mode

1. Press and hold the 0 and 3 buttons simultaneously.
2. Continue holding until the LEDs remain solidly lit, typically about 6 seconds, then release the buttons.
   • LED indicators by keypad type:
     • MAX Keypad (L979M, CH348): LEDs will be solid red.
     • UNIVERSAL Keypad (L979U, CHU48): LEDs will be solid blue.

Step 2: Program the Keypad to the Operator

1. Locate the RADIO button on the operator logic board. The yellow LED above the button will light solid when pressed.

2. Within 20 seconds:
   • MAX Keypad (red LEDs): Enter your 4-digit PIN and press HOME twice. When the yellow LED flashes, press HOME once within 3 seconds. LEDs will turn off.
   • Universal Keypad (blue LEDs): Enter your 4-digit PIN and press HOME three times. When the yellow LED flashes, press HOME once within 3 seconds. LEDs will turn off.
3. Press the RADIO button on the operator again to exit Programming Mode.

Step 3: Verify Programming

1. Ensure the operator is no longer in Programming Mode (yellow LED is off).
2. Enter your 4-digit PIN and press HOME.
3. If successful, the door will move.
4. If the door does not move, repeat programming steps.
