My Wireless Motion Detecting System motion sensor lights up but the base station doesn't respond

The Wireless Motion Detecting System alerts a base station mounted up to 900 feet away. If the LED in the window of the motion sensor lights up but the base station does not respond, the motion sensor may not be programmed. Another cause could be physical objects or electrical interference preventing the base station from communicating with the motion sensor.

  • Make sure the base station has power, or the batteries are not dead. Make sure the motion sensor is programmed to the base station. See How to program my Wireless Motion Alert sensor
  • A physical object may be blocking the signal. The clearer the environment is of obstacles (trees, metal buildings, etc.), the better your range will be.
  • There may be electrical interference in the area. Electronic devices (TV's, radios, wireless routers, etc.) can produce interference, preventing the base station and motion sensor from "talking" to each other. Move the base station to a different location. If the base station responds after being moved, there may be a device in the original location that is producing interference.

For models RWA300R and RWV400R only:

  • If the green power light is not lit or is flashing, press the Mute button on the top of the base station to wake it up.
  • If the green power light is illuminated, look at the two small white DIP switches next to the learn button on the base station . The #1 switch should be down, towards the circuit board. If it is up, the base station has been muted. If the base station signals when you press the learn button, it is not muted.

NOTE: If you are unsure what model you have, look at the motion sensor. The RWA300R and RWV400R will have a green motion sensor, and the CWA2000 will have a beige/tan motion sensor.
