How to replace the sprocket coupling on a screw drive opener

The coupling is a rubber sleeve that connects the motor unit sprocket to the rail sprocket. Sometimes this can become worn and damaged and needs to be replaced.

Follow these steps when replacing the coupling:

  1. Disconnect power, and manually open the door.
  2. Detach the rail from the motor unit bracket:
    • 1000SDR/2000SDR - Remove the two hex bolts and lock nuts using a 7/16" socket wrench.
    • 3130/3240 - Remove the four hex bolts using a 3/8" socket wrench
  3. Slide the rail away from the unit.
    • The rail will lay on top of the open door, and the motor will hang from the hanging brackets.
  4. After removing the damaged coupling, slide the new coupling over the rail sprocket.
  5. Slip the rail through the motor unit bracket until the coupling fits securely over the motor unit sprocket.
  6. Align the bolt holes in the rail with those in the motor unit bracket, then reattach with the hex bolt from step 2.
  7. Connect the power, and adjust the travel and force limits.
