The adjustments allow you to program where the door will stop in the open (UP) and close (DOWN) positions. The electronic controls sense the amount of force required to open and close the door. The force is adjusted automatically after you program the travel.
Note: This is not for model numbers that have an MC at the end of the model number. If you have a myQ® enabled garage door opener with the Step Saver Set Up sticker use the following article, Travel and Force Setup for MC Garage Door Openers.
If a garage door opener forces are set too lightly door travel may be interrupted by reversing in the down direction and stopping in the up direction. Because weather can affect the door movement, occasional adjustments may also be needed.
WARNING
---
Without a properly installed safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSLY INJURED or KILLED by a closing garage door.
|
CAUTION
---
To prevent damage to vehicles, be sure the fully open door provides adequate clearance.
Note: Before you begin the travel programming make sure the door is engaged and note the position of the trolley.
Locate the Adjustment Button and the up and down arrow buttons on the side or back panel of your garage door opener. TIP: Both UP and DOWN buttons can be used to move the door as needed.
Press and hold the Adjustment Button until the UP Button begins to flash and/or a beep is heard. This indicates the opener is ready to set the OPEN position.
Press and hold the appropriate arrow until the door is in the desired UP position.
Once the door is in the desired UP position press and release the Adjustment Button.
Press and hold the appropriate arrow until the door is in the desired DOWN position.
Once the door is in the desired DOWN position, press and release the Adjustment Button.
Press and release the UP Button. When the door travels to the programmed UP position, the DOWN Button will begin to flash.
Press and release the DOWN Button. The door will travel to the programmed DOWN position and programming is complete.
If the garage door opener lights are flashing 5 times during the steps to Program the Travel on a myQ Enabled Garage Door Opener, the programming has timed out.
If the garage door opener lights are flashing 10 times during the steps to Program the Travel on a myQ Enabled Garage Door Opener, the safety reversing sensors are misaligned or obstructed.
When the sensors are aligned and unobstructed, cycle the door through a complete up and down cycle using the remote control or the UP and DOWN buttons on the operator.
If you are unable to operate the garage door UP and DOWN, repeat these steps to Program the Travel on a myQ Enabled Garage Door Opener.
NOTE: For garage door openers manufactured after 2022, verify the LEDs on the safety sensors are on, the lights on the GDO will not blink 10 times.
After you do ANY adjustments, the safety reversal system MUST be tested. With the door fully open, place a one-inch board (or a 2x4 laid flat) on the floor, centered under the garage door.
Operate the door in the down direction. The door must reverse when striking the obstruction.
For the existing Security+ 2.0 Wi-Fi Garage Door Openers that were connected to Wi-Fi, the firmware has been updated automatically so it will now provide obstruction notifications. Note: The garage door opener must be connected to Wi-Fi in order for the update to occur.
If the opener is not a Wi-Fi enabled Garage Door Opener and is within the warranty time frame, the logic board can be replaced. Replacing the logic board will provide obstruction notifications once it is installed.
If the door makes contact with an obstruction while opening, the door will stop, the opener will beep and the lights will flash five (5) times.
When the door is in any position other than closed and the garage door opener is activated, the door will close.
If the garage door makes contact with an obstruction while closing, the door will reverse, the opener will beep and the lights will flash 5 times.
