Door Travels Less than 6-8”, Stops And/or Reverses

Find solutions for when a garage door starts to close then goes back up from Chamberlain Group. Learn how to fix a garage door if it opens less than 8 inches.

How To Troubleshoot

Your garage door opener is equipped with safety features that cause it to automatically reverse in the event that the garage door opener encounters resistance.

Note: If the lights are flashing 10 times when the door reverses, see Lights on garage door opener flash and door will not close. Any garage door opener or replacement logic board manufactured after February 3, 2022, will no longer have this feature.
