What is myQ Smart Secure?

myQ Smart Secure is a feature that automatically locks your doors and/or closes your garages when a person is detected by your myQ Outdoor Camera. Once set up, it works during pre-set times, making sure your home is secure.

Do I need an internet connection for myQ Smart Secure to work properly?

Yes, a Wi-Fi internet connection is required for the myQ Smart Outdoor Camera, myQ Locks, and garage door openers to work with myQ Smart Secure. The system does not work via Bluetooth or with garage openers currently operating on battery backup when there is no power in the home. 

Which Video Storage plans include the myQ Smart Secure feature?

The myQ Smart Secure feature is included with the 7-day and 30-day video storage plans.

Will this feature work if my garage door opener is connected to myQ using a Hub? 

Yes, this feature will work if your garage door opener is connected to myQ using a Smart Garage Control, Hub, or Internet Gateway.

When does the Outdoor Camera trigger myQ Smart Secure?

The camera triggers myQ Smart Secure when it detects a person within 25 feet during your scheduled times. For best results, mount the camera 7-10 feet off the ground to accurately detect a person. 

Is there a limit to how many locks, cameras, or garage door openers I can use with this feature?

No, there are no limits on devices that can be used with myQ Smart Secure.

Will I be able to see if myQ Smart Secure is active on the Home screen?

No, you would need to navigate to the myQ Smart Secure menu to check.

If my house locks down, will I be able to get inside?

Yes, your remotes, keypads, and app will still work to operate your myQ devices.

Will myQ Smart Secure stop triggering if it fails to close?

Yes, Smart Secure will not continue to trigger if the device fails to close or lock twice.

Can I quickly cancel or interrupt the process of myQ Smart Secure if I determine the person needs access?

No, the process happens too fast to stop or interrupt once it's triggered. 

If my cameras are already snoozed, will myQ Smart Secure still give me the option to pause?

Yes, Snooze and Pause are different functions. Snooze only applies to notifications.

Will the myQ Smart Secure feature work with Face Detection?

No, we don’t use Face Detection because the detection distance is 25 feet or closer.

When triggered, will myQ Smart Secure open my entryways that are already locked?

No, the myQ app can detect if the entryway is already locked and will not attempt to unlock it. 

Will myQ Smart Secure inform me of which doors were closed or locked?

Yes, account owners and co-owners receive urgent notifications detailing the detection and subsequent actions taken, including which specific doors were or were not secured.

Do I need to re-create my schedules if I turn myQ Smart Secure back on, after toggling it off?

No, your schedules will remain the same unless you edit or delete them.

Will myQ Smart Secure stay active if I sign out of the myQ app?

Yes, myQ Smart Secure will remain active for the selected duration unless paused or turned off.

Can Co-Owners initiate myQ Smart Secure? 

No, only the account owner can initiate myQ Smart Secure. Co-owners can only see notifications and history. 

Will myQ Smart Secure activate if I delete the schedule?

No, myQ Smart Secure will only activate during established times within the myQ Smart Secure schedule.

How does the myQ Smart Secure cooldown work? 

myQ Smart Secure will not activate for 10 minutes if a compatible entryway is accessed locally or through the myQ app. 

Why didn't myQ Smart Secure activate when a person was detected by the camera during pre-scheduled times? 

There are a few reasons why this feature may not activate.

  • Ensure you have the myQ Smart Secure feature activated (not paused or toggled off).
  • myQ Smart Secure schedule was deleted.
  • Ensure motion occurred within the scheduled time for myQ Smart Secure.
  • If active, check that you have the camera mounted at the recommended height of 7-10 feet. 
  • Ensure your myQ Video Subscription is active.
  • Confirm Person Detection and Event Recording is enabled for your camera.
  • Confirm that you have compatible devices enabled and online (myQ connected Garage Door Opener, Yale Smart Locks, myQ Outdoor Camera).
  • Garage Door/Lock was already secured/locked.
  • Door with Yale Smart Lock was not fully closed (unable to slide the deadbolt).
  • myQ Smart Secure cooldown will be in place for 10 minutes after activation locally or through myQ app.
