myQ Device Continuously Beeps

When the myQ Garage, myQ Smart Garage Hub, or Smart Garage Control is used to close the garage door with the myQ app, the device makes a beeping sound and flashes a light as a safety warning. This is normal. However, if the beeping continues, it could mean there’s an issue that needs troubleshooting.

How It Works

The below explains what happens when you use the myQ app to control the garage door opener using a myQ Garage, myQ Smart Garage Hub, or Smart Garage Control with door sensor.

  1. The myQ app sends a signal through the internet to open or close the door to your Wi-Fi router.
  2. Your Wi-Fi router sends information to the myQ Wi-Fi Hub.
  3. The myQ Wi-Fi Hub sends a signal to the garage door opener to open or close, the door the garage door opener will beep to let you know it's working.
  4. A sensor on the garage door sends a signal back to the myQ Wi-Fi Hub when the door is fully open or closed.
    • The myQ Wi-Fi Hub sends this information back to the server and update the myQ app to show the door's position.

Troubleshooting Continuous Beeping

  1. Check the Door Sensor.
    • Make sure the door sensor is still attached to the top panel of the garage door. The continuous beeping could indicate the door sensor may have been removed or has fallen off.
    • If the door sensor has fallen off or is not installed, securely remount it.
  2. Re-Pair the Garage Door Opener.
  3. Inspect the Garage Door.
    • While in the garage, command the door to close via the wall control panel.
    • If the door is not moving but you hear the garage door opener running, the door may be disconnected from the outer trolley. Reconnect the door to the trolley and try opening and closing it again. See How to Manually Open or Close a Garage Door.
  4.  Contact a Professional.
    • If the door still does not move after reconnecting the door, or if the trolley was not disengaged, the garage door opener may need service. Please call your garage door manufacturer or your local authorized dealer for service.

Note: If the garage door opener was initiated and the door sensor has not moved, the myQ Wi-Fi Hub will not receive an acknowledgment that the door has reached the open or closed position. You will receive the error message, "The garage door opener is not responding." Go into your garage, activate the garage door opener via the wall control panel, and determine if it is operating.
