Range of myQ Devices

Below is a list of estimated ranges between an Internet Gateway or Wi-Fi Hub to a myQ® device, including the Smart Garage Control, Smart Garage Hub, Home Bridge, and myQ Garage. The ranges can decrease depending on walls and objects between devices, and other signals in the air.

Internet Gateway

The average range for a LiftMaster Internet Gateway (828LM) and a Chamberlain Internet Gateway (CIGBU) is 300 - 600ft (between the Internet Gateway and myQ devices).

Chamberlain and LiftMaster Wi-Fi Hubs

The term Wi-Fi Hub refers to Wi-Fi Garage Door Openers, Smart Garage Control, Smart Garage Hub, Home Bridge, and myQ Garage:

  • Wi-Fi Signal
    • Up to 150 feet (typically 50 to 100ft) inside a home (between the Wi-Fi Hub and your router)
  • Bluetooth
    • Up to 30 feet
  • Wi-Fi Hub to myQ devices
    • 300 - 600ft when installed in a home

Notes:

  • Ensure the Wi-Fi Hub is visible when your garage door is open, and you are standing in the path of the door
  • Obstacles like walls can affect the connection. If the Wi-Fi Hub cannot connect to the home network, a Wi-Fi extender may be necessary.

Testing for a Wi-Fi Extender

  1. Go to your garage and using your mobile device, turn on your Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Find your home router and ensure it has at least 2 bars of signal strength. If it has less than 2 bars a Wi-Fi extender may be needed. For more help, see How to Improve Your Wi-Fi Signal.
