myQ Users | What It Is and How It Works

myQ Users is a feature in the myQ app that lets you securely share access to your garage door opener and other myQ devices with trusted family, friends, or service providers.

You do not need to share your login credentials. Instead, you send an invitation to the person you want to give access to.

You can add up to 16 users to your account, including:

  • 2 Co-Owners
  • 13 Household Users
  • Quick Pass for temporary access without requiring a myQ account

Note: myQ Users is only available through the myQ app. It is not supported on the myQ website.

Types of Users

Owner

The main account holder.

  • Has full access to all myQ-enabled devices on the account.
  • Can invite, manage, and remove other users.
  • Can edit device settings and create schedules.

Co-Owner

A trusted family member or friend with nearly the same permissions as the Owner.

  • Can control devices, view history, set schedules, and invite others
  • Shares most permissions with the Owner
  • Can use Amazon Key (if available)

Household User

A recommended household member (e.g., family member, roommate).

  • Can have 24/7 access or customized access periods
  • Can open/close doors, lock/unlock smart locks, and turn lights on/off
  • Cannot view history or schedules
  • Cannot use Amazon Key

Quick Pass

Temporary codes that provide limited access to devices. Ideal for cleaners, dog walkers, or temporary visitors.

  • PIN codes for pin-enabled devices (e.g., Video Keypad)
  • Can be assigned to Co-Owners, Household Users, or non-myQ users
  • Does not require full account access

Note: Commercial door operators cannot be shared. myQ cameras can only be shared with Co-Owners.  myQ Community App Overview

    Managing myQ Users

    • Invite users
      • Send an invitation through the myQ app.
      • The person you invite receives an email with the invite and must accept it within seven (7) days.
      • If they have a myQ account, they log in to accept the invitation. If they do not already have a myQ account, they would need to create a myQ Account and then follow the steps to accept the invitation.
    • Edit or remove users
      • Manage device access for Household User accounts, change a Household User account into a Co-Owner, and manage Quick Pass pins for guests.
      • Users can be managed in the Users menu by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner of the app. This feature is only available in the myQ app. It is not available on any myQ website.
    • Quick Pass
      • Users can create a PIN for eligible devices on their account. This PIN can be assigned to Co-Owners, Household Users, and users who do not need full account access, such as dog walkers or cleaning staff. This allows regular visitors to access specific devices without requiring full access to the account.
    • Switch between accounts if they've been invited to multiple myQ homes or accounts.
