Programming Remote Controls to the myQ App

You can pair a remote control to your Wi-Fi-enabled myQ Garage Door Opener through the myQ app or using QR code pairing. Follow the steps below.

Program Using the myQ App

Open the myQ app.
Access settings:
- If your app has a Gear Icon in the top right corner, tap the Gear Icon.
- If your app shows a plus (+) sign in the bottom right corner, tap the plus (+) sign.
Tap Devices, then tap Add a new device.
Tap Accessory.
Tap Remote Opener.
Select the Garage Door Opener you want to pair with the remote.
Tap Next.
Read the Safety Warning to acknowledge and understand your door will move during the process, then tap Get Started.
Identify and select your remote type.
Acknowledge that your garage door will go into learn mode. Tap Get Started.
Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare your remote.
When pairing is successful, the garage door opener will click and flash, and a success screen will appear in the app.

Tap the yellow myQ bubble.
- If you have the myQ app, it will open.
- If not, you’ll be redirected to a support page or manual.
Select your garage door opener.
- You’ll see all connected openers, including Security+ 2.0 and 3.0 models.
- If you have an older opener connected via a Smart Garage Hub or Gateway, tap the link for offline opener setup.
Scan the QR code again in the app when prompted.
Choose a button on the remote to assign to this opener.

Press the same button on the remote matching your selection in the app to complete the pairing process.
- You will have 10 minutes to complete this step. A countdown timer will display.

You can assign the remote to a user in your myQ account and name the remote to help identify it later. Tap Save.
- This helps track garage activity under the History tab.
Tap Finish and you’re all set!
