How to program a KLIK1U or KLIK5U to a Genie Intellicode or Overhead CodeDodger

Programming KLIK1U or KLIK5U Remotes

Some Genie models, like 3060L, use Intellicode technology. When going through the programming steps in the manual, the clicker remote will not program after the set amount of presses of the 1 or 2 button on the KLIK1U or KLIK5U. There is an additional step to confirm programming on the Genie Intellicode. When programming a Genie remote control, the button on the remote is pressed once to program, then pressed again to confirm.

Program to a Genie/Overhead Garage Door Opener with Intellicode

  1. Remove the battery cover on the remote control then press and hold the black program button until the LED light on the remote comes on
  2. On the remote control, select the button you want to program, press and release that button on the remote 6 times, making sure that the LED light stops flashing between each press.
  3. Press the black program button to turn off the LED light
  4. Press and release the learn button on your garage door opener
  5. Press the selected button on your remote control 3 times. The garage door opener will activate on the 3rd press when programming is successful.
Note: If not successful, repeat these steps using ID 5 on Chart A.
  6. Test the remote.
