How to Configure the Settings for the myQ App

The myQ app has additional security and user settings which can be changed by the user within the app. The security settings are set to OFF by default. The language, by default, is set to your device's operating system's language. If your language is not supported by the myQ app, the default is English. Changing the language within the myQ app will change the language for alerts and push notifications only. 

NOTE: Face Detection is supported in the US and Canada, excluding the state of Illinois and is available only on the Smart Garage Video Keypad.

 

Manage Account

To access Manage Account:

  1. Open the myQ app.
  2. Access Account Menu:
    • If your app shows Menu in the bottom right corner, tap Menu.
    • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
  3. Tap Manage Account to access the following options:

    • Edit Profile: Update your name, phone number, address, time zone, and notification language.

      • To change the language of email and push notifications.

        1. Tap Language
        2. Select your desired Language or Location
        3. Tap Save.

The myQ app supports English, Spanish, French, German, and Dutch. If your device’s language is unsupported, the app defaults to English.

      • Opt-in/out of Offers and Sharing Diagnostic Data
        1. Tap on Edit Profile.
        2. See marketing options at the bottom
        3. Put in a check to opt in.
        4. Remove the check to opt-out.
        5. Tap save
    • Manage Home - Change the name your shared users see for your account when switching between accounts.
      1. Open the myQ app.
      2. Access Account Menu:
        • If your app shows Menu in the bottom right corner, tap Menu.
        • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
      3. Tap Manage Account
      4. Tap on Manage Home.
      5. Change Home's name and click Save.

     

    Security

    Security settings add extra protection when using the app and managing your account and devices. These settings are set to OFF by default.

    Enabling Security Settings will require your passcode or existing biometrics from your device, and can be applied to following:

    • Logging into the app
    • Viewing your account
    • Opening Doors or Gates

    Available Security Settings

    • Biometric: Use your phone's built-in biometric features such as fingerprint or face ID for access.
    • Passcode: A passcode allows each user accessing the myQ app on their phone or tablet to have a unique 4-digit passcode

    How to Adjust Security Settings

    1. Open the myQ app.
    2. Access Account Menu:
      • If your app shows Menu in the bottom right corner, tap Menu.
      • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Turn on the slider for the setting you want to adjust and follow the prompts to complete setup. 

    Note: Only one security setting at a time can be enabled.

    How to Set a Passcode

    A passcode allows each user accessing the myQ app to have a unique 4-digit passcode.

    1. Open the myQ app.
    2. Access Account Menu:
      • If your app shows Menu in the bottom right corner, tap Menu.
      • If your app shows your Initials in the top left corner, tap your Initials
    3. Tap Security
    4. Slide the Passcode switch to on
    5. Enter a 4-digit passcode
    6. Enter a second time to confirm

    Important Notes About Passcodes

      • When you log out of the app, the passcode will be deleted and will need to be set up again.
      • To Turn Off or Change passcode, follow the steps above and enter your 4-digit passcode. The myQ App will prompt you with the options to turn off or change your passcode.
      • If you created a passcode but were not prompted to enter it when opening the myQ app, go to the Security settings and turn on "Launching Application." This will change the settings from the "Remember Me" option to request the 4-digit passcode each time. Exit the myQ App and launch again, you should be prompted for the passcode.
      • If the passcode stops working, or you enter an incorrect passcode three times, this will cause the myQ app to default to log in the email and password.
