Memory Capacity Limits

Each garage door opener model has a maximum number of memory slots for remotes and keypads. This is often called “memory channels.”

  • Example:
    If your opener supports five memory channels, it can store up to five remotes or keypads at one time.

What Happens When Memory is Full

When all memory channels are occupied and you add another remote or keypad:

  • The opener automatically deletes the oldest device from memory.

  • The new device takes its place.

  • This process is sometimes called memory carousel.

Explanation of Memory Carousel:

  1. You program five remotes (slots 1–5).

  2. You program a sixth remote.

  3. Remote #1 is erased.

  4. Slots 2–6 are now active.

Tips to Avoid Unintentional Deletions

  • Keep track of which remotes or keypads are programmed.

  • If you need to clear all devices, perform a memory reset (refer to your model’s manual).

  • When adding new remotes, confirm whether existing ones are still working.
