This guide answers common questions about the KLIK1U, KLIK2U, and KLIK5U models, including how to program them, troubleshoot issues, and understand compatibility.
Important: The KLIK1U, KLIK2U, and KLIK5U remotes are no longer being manufactured. However, if you still have one, you can continue to use it with compatible garage door openers.
For new installations or replacements, we recommend using one of our latest universal remotes.
After pressing the learn button, go through the same programming method using the second button. This process will not overwrite the first button.
If using the dip switch programming steps, and after programming the first button, the dip switch sequence stays stored in the memory of the first button you programmed. Therefore, if you were to move the dip switches, the first button that was programmed will still work. To program the second button, change the dip switch sequence to match the dip switch sequence for the second operator and go through the same programming method using the second button.
The KLIK1U only has two positions, in this scenario where the transmitter or receiver has a three-position switch, move all switches in the 0 position to either a + or -. No switches on the receiver system should be in the 0 position. The up switch position on the KLIK1U equals a + position on the receiver. The down position on the KLIK1U equals a - position on the receiver.
The garage door opener's memory will need to be cleared. This can be done by pressing and holding your garage door opener's LEARN button for 6 seconds until the LED light turns off. You will then need to reprogram your Clicker.
The LED is also a power indicator. Pressing a button on the KLIK1U should cause the LED to illuminate. If the LED does not illuminate after pressing a button, replace the 3-volt lithium battery.
If the Clicker is operating two doors, you will have to clear the memory of the garage door opener that you do not want the Clicker to operate, by pressing and holding down its LEARN button for 6 seconds, until the LED light turns off.
To clear out the KLIK2U, press and hold the * and the # keys together until the keypad stops flashing.
The backlight is also a power indicator. Pressing a button on the KLIK2U should cause the backlight to illuminate. If the backlight does not illuminate after a button is pressed, replace the 9-volt lithium battery.
The KLIK2U can only be programmed to one garage door opener.
Once the KLIK2U is programmed, any 5th number will act as the "enter" button to activate the opener. This can be the same number every time or a different number, as long as the first 4 numbers entered are always the PIN. For example, if your PIN is 1 2 3 4 you can press 1 2 3 4 5 or 1 2 3 4 8, etc.
After the door activates, the keypad lights will stay illuminated for 10 seconds, indicating the PIN will time out shortly. During the 10 seconds, while they keypad is illuminated, the keypad is able to be operated by the single touch of any numbered key 0-9.
If you have tried to test the keyless entry too soon (not waiting for the lights on the keypad to go out after the programming steps) then the unit was still in programming mode and may activate after only pressing one key thereafter. In this case, the keyless entry should be cleared and then reprogrammed, making sure to let the keypad lights go completely off before testing.
If your garage door opener has 10, 8, or 9 switches, match up the first nine switches and then turn the remaining switches to the down position.
If equipped with a learn button, they can be found either on the garage door opener or on an external receiver. To locate the receiver, look for an antenna. Some receivers will require a cover to be removed to gain access to the switch positions.
The KLIK1U, KLIK5U, and KLIK2U operate on 310MHz, 315MHz, 318MHz, 390MHz and 372.5MHz radio frequencies.
Models KLIK1U and KLIK2U are compatible with Security+ 2.0 technology (yellow learn button).
The Clicker product will keep its programming if the battery is replaced. If after replacing the battery, the Clicker no longer operates the garage door opener then you will have to reprogram it.
Most gate operators have a built-in radio receiver or an external receiver. The receiver on a gate opener can usually be found within the cabinet of the operator if an external receiver is not being used. To gain access, you might require permission if used in a community gate.
