Door Travels More than 6-8”, Stops and/or Reverses

How To Troubleshoot

If the garage door opener lights are flashing 10 times, see Lights on garage door opener flash and door will not close.

Note: Any garage door opener or replacement logic board manufactured after February 3, 2022, will no longer have this feature.

Common Reasons

The door will often reverse once it touches the floor if:

  • The down travel needs to be decreased.
  • The door has a problem.
  • The logic board isn’t working (a rare occurrence).

The Down Travel Needs to be Adjusted

The steps to adjust the travel vary by model. Reference the articles listed below for assistance with making adjustments.
