How to Set the Frequency on an EV/MAX Remote to Program Garage Door Opener Lights

The EV/MAX remotes require you to program the button you want to work with the opener lights to the same frequency of the garage door opener. You must set the frequency on the remote before you can program it to the opener lights.

• Yellow learn button - 1 press
• Purple/Brown learn button - 2 presses
• Red/Orange learn button - 3 presses
• Green learn button - 4 presses

For EVMC/MAXMC remote controls manufactured after January of 2022: 

• Yellow learn button - 1 press
• Purple/Brown learn button - 2 presses
• Red/Orange learn button - 3 presses
• Green learn button - 4 presses
• Yellow learn button 390 - 5 presses

To set the frequency on EV/MAX remote

1. Check the color of the learn button. (Located above the antenna wire that hangs from the opener, you may need to remove light cover to see it.)
2. Take the visor clip off and use the clip to press the program button on the back of the remote until the LED light on the front of the remote turns on.
3. Press and release the remote button you wish to program to the light ___ times, as indicated above.
4. Press either of the other 2 buttons on the remote to exit programming mode.

To program to the lights

1. With the door closed, press and hold the remote button that you just programmed using the steps above.
2. Press and hold the Light button on the Multi-Function door control.
3. While holding the Light button, press and hold the Lock button on the door control.
4. After the opener lights flash, release all buttons.
5. Test button.
