How to Program 953EV, 956EV, 893MAX & 890MAX Garage Door Remote Controls
The following remote controls are backward compatible with Chamberlain manufactured garage door openers manufactured after 1993. When following the program steps outlined here, depending on the color of the learn button on your operator or frequency, you will press the button on the remote the number of times in the chart below for step number 2.

To program the 953EV & 893MAX remote control
Instructions
- Remove the visor clip and press and hold the program button on the back of the remote control until the LED light on the front of the remote turns on.
- Press and release the remote button you wish to program ___ times, as indicated above.
- To exit programming mode, press any remote control button except the button that was just programmed.
- Press and release the learn button on the garage door opener.
- Press and hold the remote control button programmed in step 2 until the garage door opener lights flash, or two clicks are heard.
- To test, press the programmed button on the remote control.
- Install the visor clip.
To program the 956EV & 890MAX remote control
- Use a Safety Pin or Paper Clip to press and hold the program button on the side of the remote control until the LED light on the front of the remote turns on.
- Press and release the remote button you wish to program ___ times, as indicated above.
- To exit programming mode, press any remote control button except the button that was just programmed.
- Press and release the learn button on the garage door opener.
- Press and hold the remote control button programmed in step 2 until the garage door opener lights flash, or two clicks are heard.
- To test, press the programmed button on the remote control.
