You can connect a door strike or maglock to one of the four relays on either the CAPXL or CAPXLV controller, or one of the two relays on the CAPXM.
A door strike requires power to allow access while the maglock requires power to be interrupted. In either case, this power must be provided independent of the CAPXM, CAPXL, or CAPXLV systems. Also, when connecting the door strike or maglock to the CAPXM, CAPXL, or CAPXLV controller, either a metal oxide varistor (MOV) or diode is recommended to help prevent power transients and reverse polarity.
To connect a door strike
1. Remove green terminal block of the Primary or Aux relay.
2. Connect one lead from your door strike ( + wire if DC powered) into the NO (Normally Open) terminal.
3. Connect the other lead from your door strike (- wire if DC powered) suitable door strike power source.
4. Connect the strike power source (+ wire if DC powered) to the COM (Common) terminal.
5. Place a MOV (Siemens S10K30 or equivalent) into the NO and COM terminals on the block.
6. If DC powered, place a diode (1N4005 or Equivalent) between (+) and (-) legs of the door strike with the cathode or negative side of the diode on the (+) leg. The cathode is identified by line around one side of the diode.
7. Secure green terminal block to board.
To connect a maglock
1. Remove green terminal block of the Primary or Aux relay.
2. Connect one lead from your Maglock ( + wire if DC powered) into the NC (Normally Closed) terminal.
3. Connect the other lead from your Maglock (- wire if DC powered) suitable Maglock power source.
4. Connect the Maglock power source (+ wire if DC powered) to the COM (Common) terminal.
5. Place an MOV (Siemens S10K30 or equivalent) across the NO and COM terminals on the block.
6. If DC powered, place a diode (1N4005 or Equivalent) between (+) and (-) legs of the maglock with the cathode or negative side of the diode on the (+) leg. The cathode is identified by line around one side of the diode.
7. Secure green terminal block to board.
Note: Do not use the unit's power supply for the maglock. A suitable separate power source must be installed.
