How To Troubleshoot The Door Control for myQ Enabled Garage Door Openers

Here are troubleshooting steps if you find the door control for a myQ enabled garage door opener is not working.

Test and Isolate Issues with the Door Control

The steps below pertain to myQ enabled and Security+ 2.0 garage door openers. This does not include a myQ Control Panel. See How To Resolve Issues With A Door Control Panel From The myQ Connectivity Kit.

1. Remove the door control from the wall. Most door controls have a push button that can be removed to reveal the first screw. After removing this screw slide the door control panel up the wall to remove it from resting on the second screw. If these directions are not helpful for the door control you have, refer to the owner's manual for directions.
2. Verify there is no excess wire connected to the screw terminals on the back of the door control panel. Excess or bare wires touching the circuit board can cause a shorted circuit.
3. Remove the red and white wires from the door control and from the side or back panel of the garage door opener. These wires are located on the same side as the hanging antenna.
   • You do not need to disconnect the wires for the safety reversing sensors.
4. Using an extra piece of wire, connect the door control directly to the back of the garage door opener.
5. Check that the screw terminals on the back of the wall-mounted door control are tightened enough to hold the wires in place, but not over tighten.
6. Test out the door control.
   • If the door control works, replace the wires.
   • If your door control does not work, replace the door control.
