Why the Garage Door Opener Rail Bows

The rail bowing up is caused by an improper angle of the door arm, or if the rail is not angled correctly. When the door is in the closed position, the door arm should be at an angle away from the door. If the door arm is pointing straight up and down, this will push the rail up. When the rail bows up, this adds unneeded stress on the door and operator.

The rail should slope down from the header bracket above the door to the motor unit.

Check your owner's manual for the proper angle of the rail and door arm. Click here to locate your manual.
