Security+ 3.0 Remotes | Programming to LiftMaster Medium and Light Duty Operators

Before You Begin

  • Read all instructions thoroughly before starting.
  • The door will move while programming. Ensure the area is clear.  
  • The remote buttons are pre-set to Security+ 3.0 out of the box. You will use the following steps to get the remote into Programming Mode to LEARN to ALL compatible receivers/operators. 

Step 1: Put the Remote into Programming Mode.

Follow the instructions below based on your remote type:

  • 1-Button Remote (CH361): Press and release the remote button 6 times within 4 seconds. The red LED will turn solid to confirm Programming Mode is active.
  • 2-Button Remote (L932M, L992U, CHU62 CH382): Press and hold both buttons simultaneously until the LED turns solid (typically 6 seconds), then release the buttons.
  • 3-Button Remote (CH363, L993M): Press and hold the two smaller buttons simultaneously until the red LED stays solid.

solid LED means the remote is in Programming Mode.

    • MAX Remotes display a red LED.
    • Universal Remotes display a blue LED.

Step 2: Program the Remote to the Operator

Ensure the commercial door is in the fully closed position before continuing. 

  1. Locate the LEARN button on the Medium Duty or Light Duty Operator.
    • Note: These operators use single button control to open, close and stop the operator.
  2. Press and release the LEARN button.
    • The LED above the LEARN button will light solid
  3. On your remote, press the button you want to use:
    • MAX Remote: Press the button twice.
    • Universal Remote: Press the button three times.
  4. The LED will flash intermittently while the remote sends preprogrammed codes to the operator.
  5. Within 25 seconds, the operator will move the door.
  6. When the door moves, press and release any button on the remote within 3 seconds to confirm programming and exit Programming Mode.

Step 3: Verify Programming

  • Ensure the door is no longer in LEARN mode (the LEARN LED will be OFF).
  • Press the programmed button on your remote.
  • If successful, the door will move.
  • If unsuccessful, repeat steps.
