Security+ 3.0 Remotes | Programming to STAR1000 Receiver

Before You Begin

• The Security+ 3.0 Remote Controls and Keypads are NOT recommended for use with the STAR1000 but CAN be programmed if absolutely necessary.  LiftMaster highly recommends using only Security+ 2.0 Passport Credentialed Remote Controls with the STAR1000 receiver for the best experience/performance. 

• Read all instructions thoroughly before starting.
• The door may move while programming. Ensure the area is clear. 
• The remote buttons are pre-set to Security+ 3.0 out of the box. You will use the following steps to get the remote into Programming Mode to LEARN to ALL compatible receivers/operators. 

Step 1: Put the Remote into Programming Mode

Follow the instructions below based on your remote type:

• 1-Button Remote (CH361): Press and release the remote button 6 times within 4 seconds. The red LED will turn solid to confirm Programming Mode is active.
• 2-Button Remote (L932M, L992U, CHU62 CH382): Press and hold both buttons simultaneously until the LED turns solid (typically 6 seconds), then release the buttons.
• 3-Button Remote (CH363, L993M): Press and hold the two smaller buttons simultaneously until the red LED stays solid.

A solid LED means the remote is now in Programming Mode.

• • MAX remotes display a RED LED.
  • Universal remotes display a BLUE LED.

Step 2: Program the Remote to the STAR1000 Receiver

1. Enter the STAR1000 Main Menu. Use the access code if required.
2. Select LEARN MENU and press the soft button below OK.
3. Select LEARN DEVICE and press OK.
4. When prompted with “Press the button on the device”:
   • MAX Remotes: press the button twice
   • Universal Remotes: press the button three times
5. The STAR1000 will issue a short beep and display the memory location the remote is LEARNed to.
6. The remote LED will flash to finalize pairing. When pairing completes, the STAR1000 will issue one long beep, and the remote LED will turn off. Press DONE to exit Menu Mode.
7. While the remote LED is blinking intermittently, press the button once as the gate begins to move to finalize programming.

Step 4: Verify Successful Programming

1. Press the programmed button on the remote. The gate or door should respond.
2. If the door or gate does not respond, repeat the programming steps.
