LiftMaster Internet Gateway Is Not Programming to the 8500MC

The Residential Wall Mount operator model 8500MC includes the myQ® Control Panel model 888LM or 889LMMC for programming to a myQ gateway. When the gateway does not program or operate the 8500MC, then the issue could be with the gateway or the 8500MC.

 

Internet Gateway Not Programming to 8500MC

  1. Verify if there is a power outage.
    • If you currently own a Standby Power Unit (SPU) 475LM for your Wall Mount operator, to provide backup power during power outages, the unit will shut off its myQ capabilities in an effort to conserve the energy from the batteries in the SPU.   
    • During this time, you will not be able to program the 8500MC to the gateway or add and use any myQ devices with the 8500MC.  
      • Note: The Standby Power Unit is no longer available. 
    • If you are experiencing a power outage: 
      1. Wait for power to come back on.
      2. If power is on and you still can't use the gateway, then plug the Wall Mount operator into a different outlet.
  2. Verify if the Alternate Power System (APS) 580LM is being used. 
    • The 8500MC is also compatible with the Alternate power system (APS) for use when an outlet is not located near the garage door opener.
    • The APS plugs into the same outlet as the SPU, therefore making the unit conserve energy by shutting off its myQ capabilities. 
      • Note: The Alternate Power System is no longer available. 
    • To resolve this issue:
      1. Contact an electrician to install an outlet near to the garage door opener to enable full power and myQ capability. 
      2. Use the LiftMaster 821LMC-SMC as an alternative to the Internet Gateway.
