How to Program a Clicker Remote Control to Operate the Garage Door Opener's Lights

Chamberlain garage door openers made after 1998 can use Clicker remote controls to operate the lights. This guide shows you how to program the Clicker models KLIK1U, KLIK5U, 375LM, and 380UT to turn the lights on and off. You must first pre-program the remote to work with the correct frequency. Follow these steps carefully to get your remote set up. 

How to Program the Clicker Remote Control to Operate Lights

1. Remove the battery cover on your Clicker remote control. Then, press and hold the black program button until the LED light on the remote turns on.
2. Choose the button on your remote that you want to control the lights.
    Note: Be careful to choose a button on your remote control that is not currently used to operate a garage door opener.
3. Press the remote button the following number of times depending on the color of your garage door opener's learn button:
   • 2 times for red or orange learn buttons
   • 3 times for a purple learn button
   • 8 times for a yellow learn button
4. Press the black program button to turn off the LED light.
5. With the garage door closed, press and hold the remote button that you just programmed using the steps above.
6. Press and hold the Light button on the Multi-Function wall control.
7. While holding the Light button, press and hold the Lock button on the wall control.
8. After the opener lights flash, release all buttons.
9. Finally, test out the remote by pressing the button to activate and deactivate the light.

Note: The model KLIK3U-RT1 is no longer manufactured, but support is still available. The programming steps are the same as listed above.
