How to Setup a myQ Outdoor Camera

This guide walks you through setting up your myQ Outdoor Camera in the myQ app, including pairing to Wi-Fi and mounting the camera.

The myQ app supports multiple cameras. If you're adding more than one, follow these steps for each camera and assign unique names.

Before You Start

Have the following ready: 

  • A smartphone or tablet
  • A 2.4 or 5 GHz home Wi-Fi network
  • A strong Wi-Fi signal in the camera's mounting location
  • Your Wi-Fi network name and password
  • Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device

How to Setup Your Outdoor Camera

  1. Open the myQ app on your phone or tablet. 
  2. Tap the Gear Icon in the top right corner or the Initials in the top left corner.
  3. Tap Devices or Device Management and then Add a new device.
  4. Tap Video Solution in the Device Setup screen.
  5. Tap Outdoor Camera.
  6. Make sure you have everything listed on the "What You Need" screen and check the boxes. 
  7. Tap Next.
    • If Bluetooth is not enabled, a message will appear asking you to enable it.
  8. Plug in your Outdoor Camera and tap I'm Ready.
    • The LED will be white for up to 30 seconds before flashing blue.
    • If the LED is not flashing blue or is flashing blue/green, unplug the power supply briefly then plug it back in.
  9. Tap Pair to allow Bluetooth pairing.
  10. Tap your Camera on the Discovered screen.
  11. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
  12. Enter your Wi-Fi password and tap Next.
  13. Name your Outdoor Camera and select where it will be located in your home, then tap Next.
  14. Tap Finish to complete setup. 

Mounting Your Camera

  1. Choose a mounting location for your Outdoor Camera.
  2. Unplug the camera and take it to the outside mounting location.
  3. Plug the camera into the intended outlet and wait for the LED to be solid green.
  4. Hold the camera near the spot where you want to mount it. View the livestream to check the camera's view before mounting.
  5. Install the mounting plate.
  6. Lock camera to the mount.
    • Don't tighten the adjustment nut yet.
  7. Adjust the camera angle and check the livestream again.
    • Once you're happy with the view, tighten the adjustment nut.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. Tap Finish Setup

 


Troubleshooting Tip:

If you can't connect, check the LED on your camera. Use the last LED color status observed during the in-app setup to troubleshoot further and see Unable to Connect the myQ Smart Garage Camera to Wi-Fi Overview.
