LiftMaster produces three emergency egress operators (EES) for Wayne Dalton, OEG for Overhead Door, and LGE under LiftMaster. These operators are based on the FDOA design. However, it is not a fire door operator. They follow the same LiftMaster model number format:

LGE5011UL = LGE (model), 50 (1/2HP), 11 (115V, 1PH), U (UL2010 Approved), L (Left hand)

The egress models are designed to allow means of exiting an area when other means may not be available. They are commonly used on mall storefronts and other grille type doors. They should be used in conjunction with an LiftMaster EES Series Interface Panels Guide. The panel works on the same line voltage as the operator and the line voltage to the operator is wired through the panel. The panel has an egress button to open the grille.

Theory of Operation

If a person presses the egress button on the interface panel, the interface panel will cut off line power to the operator. The loss of power will cause the unit to release the brake, allowing the door to open. No alarm contacts are required for the operator.
