2500B, 2500D, 3500 and 3850 - Diagnostic Code Chart

Your garage door opener is programmed with self-diagnostic capabilities. The diagnostic LED next to the learn button will flash a number of times, then pause before repeating, signifying it has found a potential issue. The Diagnostic Chart is below.

Sending indicator light glows steady, receiving indicator light is dim or flashingLoosen the wing nut on the receiving sensor, clean the lens, realign the sensor until it glows steadily, then tighten the wing nut and secure the brackets. Verify the door track is firmly secured to the wall and does not move
5No RPM in the first secondNo movement, grinding sound, 0-6" of door travelStop or obstruction, bad motor gears, disconnected encoder harness, open armature, brush failure
6RPM pulses detected after the motor was turned offDoor coasts down or up after limits have been reachedCheck the door, does it coast down or open on it's own when disconnected from the opener? If the door isn't extremely heavy or out of spec for the opener replace the motor
